Chairman's Message

William L. Miller, M.D., M.A.Our Family Medicine Residency Program is designed to complement the vision of the department which essentially is "to create a community of healing". We realize that in order to facilitate the creation of such a community, we must have an open, dynamic and safe environment which will serve as a model of excellence in preparing family practice physicians for the 21st century.

We believe that through a longitudinal, competency-based curriculum, a supportive learning environment, a family practice setting that models collaboration and the integration of service, education and research, we can best achieve our vision.

We value the healthy growth and development of our residents and their families with the goal of having these physicians becoming self-directed, reflective practitioners who achieve balance between their professional and personal lives.

William L. Miller, M.D., M.A.
Chair, Department of Family Practice
